Dogs and Guts.
I wrote about Thanksgiving Day over here. But now I have to write about Thanksgiving night. You see I thought I was being real nice to Lucie, my big red dog, Buddy and Angelina. I got the neck and heart and guts from my mom and proceeded to boil them.
After they were done I let them cool and then cut up the heart and guts. Yuck, but I love my three children pets. So, I then took Lucie outside and closed the door to avoid a food fight (it has happened before). I gave Angie her treat in her bowl on the dryer (keeps dogs from eating all the cat food). Then I gave Buddy his bowl on the floor.
Everybody enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner. They finished every bit and I thought no more about it. That night I went to bed and so did the animals. Peaceful right? Fast forward to 2:00 am. All of a sudden I hear dogs fighting. Buddy is screaming and and Lucie is growling. Don’t ask me how but I managed to get them apart in the dark. I just could not understand why they would fight in the middle of the night.
Corvette starts yelling, “I told you that dog is nuts!” Yea, thanks for all your help dude. Anyway while I am still holding Buddy and trying to calm him I notice a smell. A distinct smell. Guts. Yes, that nasty gut smell that I refused for years to include it in my stuffing.
I start feeling around Buddy’s body for one to make sure he is not bleeding or injured and all of a sudden I feel it. Guts. Stuck to his neck hair. E gads! I spend the next few minutes pulling guts out of his hair. They must of got stuck when he was eating.
I finally get all the guts out and separate the dogs for the rest of the night and then scrub my hands thoroughly to remove that smell! The next day I bath the dog and spray him with some body spray for good measure.
I do not believe Lucie was trying to hurt Buddy. She just wanted the late night snack that happened to be stuck on his neck. Turkey guts.
