Prayer Call
When Corvette and I first moved to the Desert Southwest from California, we had a hard time adjusting. We had no family here and it was a hard because we were used to spending time with our family especially around holidays.
Anyway, not long after moving here, I met my special best friend ever. A girl with flaming red hair and the person that is always there for me. As I try to be for her. Funny, she has red hair as does my big red dog, Lucie, and as did my grandson, Lolly Pop Kid.
Anyway, her family welcomed us into their family. Right now her uncle Gary is battling cancer. His wife Carol is by his side. (Yes. I will leave their real names so that you will pray for them). My friend did not tell me about this when it first happened because of everything going on in my life. I appreciate this gesture, but I am glad I am able to think, pray and hope for people that went out of their way for me and my family.
So please pray for these people, Gary and Carol and their family. Thank you.
Please read about my special friend and what she is doing for me.

The Wedding
Sorry I have not updated sooner. I have been busy taking care of Butterfly and getting her to and from school while Cinderella is on her honeymoon.
The wedding was awesome. Everyone looked great and Butterfly was a mini-me of Cinderella. And Cinderella was just that. The ceremony was perfect and the reception was so much fun. I enjoyed dancing with Corvette and spending time with my family and friends. My parents were the longest married couple there. 62 years and counting. My mother gave a wonderful speech about marriage and I watched my daughter dance with her father.
There are too many pictures to post here so you can go to my shutterfly page to see them. They are not in the correct order and some were taken by Tango’s uncle so I will have to wait for the professional pictures to see our family picture.
Congratulations Cinderella and Tango, and may you live happily ever after!

Gearing up for the Wedding
Cinderella’s wedding is just 3 days away. Needless to say the excitement level is growing. Everything is coming together just fine and outside of a few things I need to do like packing, I am ready.
The weather forecast for Friday, the day Corvette and I will drive 2 hours to the wedding destination is calling for 70 percent chance of rain. Wonderful. Well, I guess we will just deal with it.
I can’t wait to see Cinderella in her wedding gown walking down the isle. My eyes get wet just thinking about it. My mind is flooded with so many thoughts and memories these days. I remember when she was born. This was before everyone found out the sex of their babies. I already had LCpl Honda. I so wanted to have a girl, but I was convinced it would be another boy. When she came out, Corvette said, “Oh, it’s another boy!” I remember feeling a little disappointed when I heard the Doctor say, “Well if this is a boy that’s the funniest looking penis I have ever seen!” I said, “You mean it’s a girl!” He said, “That right!” And me, I was estatic!
Cinderella has always been a unique girl. Growing up she was my sweet, little and very girly child. She always surprises me like when she was going to start high school. Her brother, who was a year ahead, was on the wrestling team. When we went to his first match, Cinderella turned to me and said, “Mom, I am going to do that next year.” And she did! Just know that this was the boy’s wrestling team too! She managed to get a pretty good record and placed third in a tournament!
She also surprised me after graduation when she came and said she was joining the Army. This was pre-9/11 when people were not joing like they are today. She made it through basic training and we flew to Missouri to watch her graduate. Needless to say it was a very proud moment for Corvette and I. I am also proud to say I have a veteran daughter.
She has had tough times in her life, but I do not want to speak of those today. This wedding is about love and life. I will sit in the pew and watch my little girl marry a most wonderful man. My heart will take yet another beautiful picture! I do not expect any surprises from her on that day, but you never know!
Cinderella, I so love you and I will be the proudest Mother-of-the-Bride ever!

"We Made Humans."
Hippie Guy and Flower Child became the proud parents of twin baby boys yesterday. The whole family is doing fine and we are thankful to be able to welcome two healthly and beautiful babies into our family.
It is funny because Flower Child was scheduled to have a C section yesterday at 1:00pm, but nature decided to step in as she went into labor the night before so they arrived just a bit earlier in the day. This was the day God intended them to come and they most certainly did.
I must admit that my son Hippie Guy looked a little shell-shocked right after the birth. I do believe he was given that wonderful little life changing gift every new parent receives upon the birth of their child. Responsibility. Not that he isn’t already responsible, because he is, but now there is a bit of a twist on that.
Flower Child looked very serene and beautiful except for the 3 hour period from the twins’ birth to when the nurse finally brought them to her. I think if she could of got out of bed at that point it is quite possible there would have been a few wounded nurses. Seriously.
If you are wondering about the title it was a remark that Flower Child made while we were discussing the birth experience. Yes, Flower Child and Hippie Guy, you made humans. And two fine ones at that.
I will post a couple of pictures now, but I left my camera at the hospital and I will be posting more pictures later when I get it back. Plus I need to think of bloggie names for the twins. So far my mind seems to be blank concerning this. Any suggestions? But please keep it nice and clean.
So for the time being they will still be A and B. This is A.
This is B.

Angel Tuesday
I had a lot of trouble starting this post. I am not sure why. Maybe because I wish I did not have to. I did not realize how many children die each day. To be honest it was not something I wanted to think about. Nobody does.
Today is seven weeks since Lolly Pop Kid became an angel. Today is another Angelversary.
So I will try and bring a new child each week either an angel or a child with an illness. Please pray for these children and their families. Visit their blogs or sites and if possible leave a message.
The pain does not go away and it does not get better. It helps when people reach out.
Here is Lolly’s memorial site.
I wish I could open the door and pick you up and hug away the tears.
I wish you could open the door and pick me up and hug away the tears.

Sunday Brunch
I have not been posting too much lately. I guess that is because I just do not have the gumption (sp?) or the ideas to talk about. I am going to try and post everyday. I need to get back to posting because it helps me get through my life. I have already established Military Monday, Wordless Wednesday & Quote of the Week. I want to include Sunday Brunch which I think will be a little recap of my week and a recipe that maybe someone might like to try.
I decided to include Angel Tuesday. Lolly Pop Kid went to heaven on a Tuesday. I know that I will never live through a Tuesday without thinking about him leaving us. That is just the way it is. I think that I will profile a child that is going to heaven or a famly that has lost a child. I know what it is like to have a lived with one that is sick with a possible terminal illness. Please pray for Sydney
There are a lot of children out there that need prayers. There are a lot of parents’ that lost their child. I just need to reach out.
So here is the recipe that I would like to share:
Chipolte Chicken with Flaming_Tequelia Pepper Salsa Avocado Ranch Dressing
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons EVOO – Extra Virgin Olive Oil, divided 6 slices smoky bacon, chopped
- 2 1/2 pounds ground chicken breast
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped or grated
- 2 to 3 tablespoons puréed chipotles in adobo
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 quart chicken stock
- Salt and ground black pepper
- 1 yellow bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1 orange bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 2 jalapeños, seeded and finely chopped
- 1 medium red onion, chopped
- 3 to 4 shots tequila
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1/4 cup cilantro leaves, chopped
- 1 avocado, pitted
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup finely chopped chives
Crushed tortilla chips, for garnish
Preparation
Place a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat with 2 turns of the pan of EVOO, about 2 tablespoons. Add the bacon to the pan and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add the chicken to the pot and continue cooking until golden brown, 5-6 minutes.
Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the veggies are tender, 4-5 minutes. Add the puréed chipotles, cumin, coriander, paprika and tomato paste to the pot and cook until the spices are aromatic and beginning to caramelize, about 1 minute. Add the chicken stock, some salt and pepper to the pot and bring up to a bubble. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
In the bowl of a food processor combine the avocado, buttermilk, lemon juice and chives. Process until smooth then season with salt and pepper.
Serve up the chili topped with some of the tequila-pepper salsa and avocado ranch. Garnish with some crushed tortilla chips.
All I can say is pray for us and we will pray for you. This recipe probaly seems over the top, but it is just the way I feel at this point.
