On The Move Again.
I moved for the third time in a month last weekend. Not that I wanted to, but it was best for all concerned. The well-being of my family is utmost in my mind and nothing comes before that ever.
Lucie my big, red dog has suffered stress along with me during this time. I know she is trying to roll with the punches but sometimes that is impossible for her. Since she is a reactive dog, I need to be alert to the signs she displays. Quite frankly, I have become very good at reading her.
I realize that I need more training time with her and more rewards for good, positive behavior. But the bottom line is I will not trust her not to react to loud noises and other dogs.
We just moved in with a family that owns a small Pit Bull named Lily. Very sweet dog. The initial introduction did not go too well, but they are getting along for the most part now. Lucie is very protective of me and does not want anyone or anything to touch me. That is a good thing and a bad thing. Next training will be getting her to not react when someone hugs me. I need a code word so she knows not to bark or become aggressive. Hopefully and I do not wish for this to happen, if a stranger were to come up to me and try to harm me and I did not use the code word she would become aggressive and protect me.
Having a dog is hard. I am up to it. She is my friend.
Here is a couple of photos of Lily. I hope to take more of the two dogs together in the future.
Yea, the tongue is that big!
