Music That Moves Me – Pumped Up Kicks
I do not even no why I like this song. I am not sure what it is about but somehow this song moves me. I like the funky beat. The band’s name is Foster the People. What does that mean?
It makes me want to get up and slide across the floor. Ok, I already did. Hey, dancing is a great stress relief. Lucie my big, red dog is not too hip to dancing as I believe she thinks I’ve lost my mind.
Maybe I have.
Pumping up some kicks here.

A Child's Dream.
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPromise for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Every child has dreams. It might be to grow up and be a firefighter, an astronaut, or President of the United States. Parents have dreams for their children too. Upromise is celebrating its 10th anniversary by giving away $20,000 to members that support their child’s dream.
Simply go to www.upromisetodream.com and share your story about how you planted the seeds for your child’s success. You can also vote for your favorite stories by “liking” them. 10 winners will receive $1,000 and the grand prize winner will receive $10.000!
Upromise has awarded over $600 million college savings through their reward program. This has allowed countless children to realize their dreams and grow into productive adults.
Please feel free to share your child’s dreams in the comment section here and on the Dream Wall on the Upromise site. We are living in tough times. So many job losses have made it hard to save for our children’s college education. This is a great chance for an opportunity to receive a little help and maybe change the future for 10 deserving kids. Here are the dream wall official rules.
Now, my children are grown but I do have grandchildren. My dream is about my granddaughter Butterfly. She is very creative and artistic. I could see her designing fashion in the future. My hope for her is that she will have that chance if she so desires to attend fashion design school or anything else she might want to do.
So, parents give your child a chance at a better future, submit your dream and vote for your favorites. Encourage your family and friends to vote too!
End of Summer Fun.
This is the way I like to dress at this time of the year. Except it is not likely I will ever have a Balenciaga bag or wear $330 jeans. I do have a top that is very similar to this one. Jeans and flip-flops are the only way to go. Here is where you can find these pieces.

Love Me a Hoodie.
I like when the weather cools off and I can wear my warmer clothes. It is sort of like comfort food for your stomach except it is comfort for your body. I especially like hoodies. The are so comfortable and come in great colors and prints. I have a hoodie with the Marine Corps emblem on the front. This one is about ready for retirement. I wear it at home. I wore it to work. I wear it everywhere.
I need a new one and will probably have to go online because I do not think I will be near a Marine base anytime soon. I want to look for an Army hoodie too. I have quite a few Army mens t-shirts but no hoodie yet.
If I continue to work at home this winter I think my standard working outfit just might be a hoodie. t-shirt, and yoga pants. This outfit goes from walking Lucie my big, red dog to working out to writing, facebooking, tweeting to running to the grocery store.
You just can not go wrong with a hoodie. Since the weather has cooled off here I might just find myself in my comfort clothes sooner than later.

Got a Job. Sort of.
No, I did not find a real full time job but I did pick up a freelance gig. I am not sure at this point how much I will work but something is better than nothing. I had all but forgotten that I applied for this writing job about 4 weeks ago. I was surprised when I was contacted they other day and asked to submit a trial piece. It was accepted with a few minor edits and the pay rate is not bad. Hopefully this will be a long term deal and I can work from home.
I had a scare last night. I saw an error message come up on my laptop. It then froze so I did the only thing I could do. I pulled the battery. I tried to boot up again and it would NOT come on. (Insert screaming and hair pulling here!) I tried several times but to no avail. I let it sit. I pulled the battery again. I walked away for awhile. Nothing. I finally gave up thinking that my battery was dead.
I went to bed thinking just what I needed. Another expense. I NEED MY COMPUTER!
I got up this morning and figured oh what the heck. I plugged it in. Then the clouds cleared the sky. The sun came out. My laptop booted up! So, here I sit writing this blog post. I do not know what happened but every finger and toe is crossed that it was just a computer fluke or maybe gremlins.
I do not believe it. It just did it again! Obviously I got it back but this maddening. I will be nice little red laptop but be warned, I just googled Macbook Air!

Connected Again.
I finally got my laptop back. It had 3 count them 3 virues. What can I say, I do things in a big way. Thank goodness my files are intact and I will start backing them up today and on a weekly basis. I need to get more proactive with backing up my blogs too. No excuses since I have a lot of time on my hands right now.\
In a way it is sort of sad how we rely on our computers and technology these days. When mine went down all I could think was how will I look for a job. Thimgs are so different today from when I first starting working. In those days people actually went to a business and filled out a hard copy application. Today you go online, upload your resume and are contacted through email or your cell phone.
I was looking through the classified ads and I could not believe how few ads were listed. There was maybe a page and a half. Years ago the ads filled several pages. Of course the failing economy surely plays a part in this as well as online advertising.
I feel for the people that are not technology savy. I worked with several people that do not own computers and will have to apply for unemployment benefits at an actual office. I wonder how they will get by in this world.
I wonder how I will.

This Music is Moving the S@#$ Out of Me – Pink
I am just a little bit bitter about losing my job. So I am going to vent here and then get on with things. I heard this song, “So What” by Pink as I was driving to pick up my virus infected computer today. It is still not fixed and it looks like I will probably be losing all my files. Nice.
Anyway, I have a few things I would like to get off my chest. This is for you ****Company.
- Thanks for letting about 50 people walk into work and telling us to pack our stuff and go.
- Thanks for knowing thngs were bad and not letting us have a head’s up on the situation.
- Thanks for telling us not to take your property. Um, I think that is the bank’s property now.
- Thanks for telling us in a webex meeting a month ago that this company was solid.
- Thanks for the week of severance pay. How much did you get?
- Thanks for leaving many people without the option of contining our health care.
- Thanks for not paying our health premiums near the end and not using it to at least pay the bills.
You Know What? I’m Still a Rock Star!
BTW, I took my daily calendar and 2 packs of Post-It notes. I will need them in my job search. You know to record notes and such.
